Jozefina Komporaly

Jozefina Komporaly teaches at the University of the Arts, London and translates from Hungarian and Romanian into English. Her translations appeared in Words without Borders, Asymptote, Index on Censorship, and were staged by [Foreign Affairs] and Theater Y Chicago. She is editor and co-translator of the drama anthologies How to Explain the History of Communism to Mental Patients and Other Plays (Seagull Books, 2015) and András Visky’s Barrack Dramaturgy: Memories of the Body (Intellect 2017). Jozefina’s academic publications focus on contemporary performance, translation and adaptation for the stage, and women’s writing, and include the monographs Staging Motherhood (Palgrave, 2006) and Radical Revival as Adaptation (Palgrave, 2017).
